Why typography matters more than you think

The fonts and spacing decisions a designer makes shape how your visitors feel about your brand long before they read a single word.

Typography is the silent ambassador of your brand. The choice between a humanist sans-serif and a geometric one signals who you are, what you value, and how serious you are about the work you do.

First impressions are visual

Visitors decide whether to trust a website in fractions of a second. Long before they read a single sentence, they have already judged your typeface, your line height, and the rhythm of your headings.

That judgement isn't superficial — it's pattern recognition. Confident typography reads as a confident company.

If your fonts don't speak for you, your competitor's will.

Three rules we follow

On every project we ship, we hold ourselves to three rules:

  1. Pick one display font and one body font, never more.
  2. Use a strict modular scale instead of arbitrary pixel values.
  3. Set generous line height for any block of body copy.

These three rules alone will make any website feel calmer, more readable, and more intentional. For deeper reading, see our case for slow design.
